Research

Based on the research conducted by Engineering Secure Systems (ESS), three research priorities have emerged for the upcoming research period of “Trustworthy Security Technologies for Digital Societies” (TruST). Each of these Themes applies a closely related set of methodological tools to a specific application field in order to tackle several long-term scientific challenges:
“Trustworthy Critical Systems for the Connected World” works on a method for comprehensive security evaluation of critical infrastructures that provides a scientifically sound assessment of cyber risk.
“Trustworthy Software Certification Methods” researches certification for mobility software products, going beyond the current state of the art that only certifies processes, to deliver dependable software for autonomous vehicles.
“Trustworthy Agentic Systems” investigates security and privacy aspects of systems that can act on their own autonomous decisions, with European democratic standards guiding those far-reaching consequences.
The Common Theme "Trustworthy Digital Societies", integrates collaborations which address the resilience of digital democracies.
