PET CON 20926

On April 16–17, the Chair of Privacy and Security hosted PET-CON 2026. The event featured two days of intensive discussion on privacy research at KASTEL Security Research Labs at KIT.
One particularly noteworthy aspect was the diversity of the participants, including colleagues from many of Germany’s leading research universities as well as representatives from the Tor Project, industry, and research institutions such as Fraunhofer, Max Planck, and DLR. The group reflected a broad spectrum of cultural and academic backgrounds as well as levels of experience—ranging from first-year PhD students beginning to explore privacy questions to researchers who have developed seminal methods and contribute to standardization.
This diversity was also reflected in the topics presented by the participants. The program covered a wide variety of topics: from disclosure risks and privacy threats to personal data access rights, disclosure control mechanisms, confidential computing, anonymous communication, and cryptography.
The event served as a successful forum for the exchange of ideas and the latest research findings in the field of privacy.
